Troubleshooting
Quick fixes for the problems people run into most often.
An invite link doesn't work
- “Invite expired” — links last 7 days. Ask for a new one.
- “Invite already used” — each link works for one person. The inviter can generate a fresh link.
- “Invite revoked” or “Invite not found” — the link was cancelled or the group was deleted.
- Make sure the whole link was copied — messaging apps sometimes cut long URLs.
I'm not getting notifications
- Check that you allowed notifications for www.finledger.co.in in your browser's site settings.
- Check whether you muted the group: its menu shows Unmute notifications if so.
- You don't get notified about your own actions — only other members'.
- Private or incognito windows usually block push notifications.
The Telegram bot doesn't recognise me
- Link your account first from Settings → Security, then send the code shown to the bot.
- If the web page is still waiting after you sent the code, generate a new code and try again.
- Send
/helpto see the phrasing the bot understands.
A balance looks wrong
- Open the expense and check who is marked as having paid, and the split type.
- With exact amounts or percentages, check each person's value — a typo moves the whole balance.
- After simplifying debts, suggested payments can be between different people than you expect; the totals each person owes are unchanged.
- Make sure every payment between members was recorded with Settle up.
I keep getting sent to the sign-in screen
- Your session may have expired — sign in again and you'll return to the page you were on.
- FinLedger needs cookies to keep you signed in; check they aren't blocked for the site.
I can't leave a group
You can leave once your balance in the group is settled. A group's owner can't leave while other members remain — delete the group instead, or wait until you're the last member.
